Winter Scene Window Art

There's been a lot of talk over the last month about the white, cold fluffy stuff making it's first appearance in the county of Lincolnshire and indeed it did a week or so ago. Sadly, it never reached us, but people who live only a few miles away posted numerous pictures of theirs, so I know it got incredibly close! Tommy's only experienced snow a few times in his entire life and every year I hope we're going to get the amount of snow we seemed to when I was a child but it just never seems to materialise. Despite this, we've been doing lots of snow-inspired crafts recently. I absolutely love winter - it's such a magical season. I thought I'd start off by sharing with you this one, as it's quick, effective and super-easy to prepare and do.

I love doing crafts that can adorn the window in Tommy's room and this was the perfect activity for it. All you need to create it is a piece of contact paper (or sticky-backed plastic if you ever watched Blue Peter!), cotton wool balls and pads, cotton buds and hats and twig-like arms cut out of foam, paper or felt. You could even use small offcuts of ribbon or pipe cleaners for scarves.

To start with, we cut out a section of the contact paper that would cover the entire window. Contact paper can be a little difficult to work with sometimes so I would suggest peeling an inch of the backing away from the plastic and then cellotaping this to the top of the window before peeling off the rest and sticking the bottom edge. This will ensure it adheres to the window nice and smoothly.

Then I pretty much left Tom to it! He got really into this activity for some reason. It was so easy for him to do. He needed very little input from me. I gave him a little bit of an idea as to what he could use the materials for, but it was pretty self-explanatory. Hoping we get some of the real stuff soon!
